Reef Octopus LR-150 Algae Reactor

The Reef Octopus Algae Reactor is a natural filter which utilizes macroalgae like Chaetomorpha to absorb and remove algae-producing nutrients from your aquarium's water. As macro algae grows, it will consume nutrients in the water. Once you harvest the macro algae, the nutrients are then removed from your system.

Besides being a all natural approach to filtration, Algae reactors also provide a safe haven for copepods and Anphipods.

The Reef Octopus Algae Reactor's unique triangular waterproof LED light (IP67 Certified) strip inside the reactor maximizes light exposure for the algae with 360 degree coverage, aiding growth and nutrient consumption. The close proximity of the high-output LED strip gets as much light to the macro algae as possible and quickly grows the macro algae.

    The Light Reactor Delivers

Posted by Annette on Dec 16th 2022

I'm a big fan of natural nutrient control. Sadly I can't afford a Pax Bellum but this is the next best thing. It comes pre-assembled and has a pump to boot so you'll have this thing up and running in no time. It has shelves inside that make harvesting macro easy. I've got Calurpa and Cheatomorpha inside my LR-150 and it's growing like weeds. Nutrients are down and my water is visually looking cleaner as well. It's a little pricey but it's less expensive than buying miracle cures in a bottle over and over again. I would buy it again in a heartbeat!

    Works like a champ!

The Light Reactor from Reef Octopus works like a charm. It includes the feed pump and there is a valve to control the flow. There are shelves inside the reactor that make harvesting cheato easier. Having the light down the center is ingenious. My macroalgae growth has exploded! My nutrient levels have been steadily dropping and the algae buildup in my display has noticeably decreased in the past few weeks. I watched a YouTube video to help me with setup and it wasn't difficult at all.
