Each Sapphire sump comes with two plates that can be placed into Section 1:

• Filter Sock Plate
• Foam Block Plate

The filter sock plate is installed when the included 100-micron filter socks are desired.

The foam block plate is perforated with holes and comes with a foam sponge block filter. The foam block plate can be used when filter socks are not desired or in the case when the filter socks need to be changed or cleaned but replacement socks are not readily available yet mechanical filtration is needed. In this case, simply remove the filter sock plate and install the perforated foam block plate, and then place the included foam sponge block filter in place.

Configurable Input Plate

The drains from the sump will connect to the plate that has two 1.5" input fittings. If the drain configuration of your tank requires a different number or size of inputs to the sump, there is a blank input plate that can be drilled to meet those requirements.

There are two additional input fitting mounts that can be installed in two locations in the skimmer section or in one location in the return section. One of these has a single 1" input fitting and the other has a single 1.5" input fitting. 

The plate area is covered with a full-piece polycarbonate lid to prevent splashing and noise. Polycarbonate material is used to prevent the lid from bowing over time. There is a finger notch in the front of the lid to assist in removal.

Located in the top bracing of the sump, these 1/4" connections allow tubing for dosing or the ATO to be implemented

Adjustable Water Level
The water level in the sump is adjustable from 7” to 9.5” to accommodate for the water height requirements for different protein skimmers. 

Self-Adjusting Foam Block - Patent Pending
As the water level is adjusted by sliding the wall up and down, the foam block sponge filter and the perforated plate that it sits on will also move up and down automatically. This is important to maintain the correct location of the foam block sponge filter with respect to the sump water height. 

Probe Holder
The CR44 sump comes with a probe holder that can hold up to four probes. Three of the holes are 0.5” in diameter and one of the holes is 0.7” in diameter to fit different-sized probes. These holes are countersunk so that the probes do not fall through. There are 8 o-rings provided that help to secure the probes nicely into the holders without damaging the probes.  

Cable and Hose Organizer

Keep the cords and hoses tidy with the two provided holders, located above the probe holders and return section.
