Quite often a too low calcium concentration retards coral and calcareous algae growth.
NSW contains 400 – 450 mg/L calcium. Which is also the value we should strive for. For a stable aquarium environment the fluctuation in calcium content should preferably not more than approx. 15 mg/L. This automatically means that the calcium test should be able to monitor comparable fluctuations.

Easy to use - good test kit
I think this is a good test kit to buy. Its not hard to use and you get a fairly accurate reading within minutes. If you own a reef tank, this is an important kit to have.

Best Budget Calcium Test kit available
I like using Salifert test kits. I find they are very reliable and accurate. This is a bargain. For $20 you get about 50 tests for Calcium. This is important test for reef tanks. If I keep my Calcium levels too low, my corals suffer. Once I get the calcium levels to around 450-460 ppm, the corals look much healthier and have better color.

Good test
I am very pleased with this test kit. The color change is sharper than other calcium tests Ive tried and the measurements are more accurate. It has a couple more steps to perform the test than other types, but that what makes it more accurate. I also like that it has instructions for "halving" the test so you can get double the tests out of the reagents.
