HOB Skimmer
I purchased this since it is praised as the second best HOB skimmer online (the larger 2000 being the only one who beats the 1000). It is a sizable piece of machinery.<br>The directions are basically a product diagram and you are left to interpret how to assemble (not too difficult). After cleaning and starting it up it produced a lot of bubbles in my tank which dissipated within 12 hours. I have been delightfully disgusted at how much protein junk has been pulled out of my aquarium so far.<br>The machine is very quiet. Only problem I have had is the water outflow puts out a lot of bubbles so no the lights and other machines in that corner of the tank are being covered in layers of salt. I'm hoping this will cease after it stops "breaking in" in a few weeks.<br>I would recommend and I would buy this again.

Outstanding HOB Skimmer
After much research, I decided to purchase this skimmer since my setup doesn't allow for a sump. Let's just say, it does the job, and it does it well. It pulls out so much gunk everyday. Depending on the type of skim you prefer, you might have to empty out the collection cup once a day or so - and that's not because the collection cup is small, its because the skimmer is so effective.<br>It started pulling gunk the first hour I had set it up. It does take from a couple of days to a few weeks to fine tune it, but it will still skim effectively during that time period. It creates a little noise, but so does every piece of equipment I have. It produces minimal amount of micro bubbles. The bubbles stay only in the area around the sponge because I don't have my wavemaker directed at the bubbles. Every skimmer creates bubbles, but the design of this skimmer minimizes them. <br>If you purchase this skimmer, you won't be disappointed.<br>My recommendation for this skimmer is up to 40 gallons. Anything larger, go with the Classic 2000.<br>I say this because you can't go wrong with a size up when it comes to a protein skimmer. Plus I use my protein skimmer as a main source to export nutrients.<br>Happy Reefing!
