Why It’s Important
Fluorine is vital for coral coloration and skeletal strength, particularly in LPS and SPS corals. Fluorine contributes to deeper, more vivid coloration, especially in Goniopora and Acropora, and is incorporated into coral skeletons as a calcium fluoride complex, producing strong, resilient coral structures. Deficiencies lead to faded hues and brittle skeletons.
