Tunze Comline 3171 Calcium Automat 3171.000
In 1989, TUNZE® Aquarientechnik was the first manufacturer to develop a CO2-controlled calcium reactor. A circulation pump is used to pass the water enriched with carbon dioxide through the hardness granulate. The carbon dioxide reacts with water to form carbonic acid which dissolves the calcium carbonate, thus discharging softened water from the reactor. The new generation of calcium machines is comprised of three units:
The Calcium Automat 3171 is suitable for cabinet systems and aquariums up to 1,200 litres (317 USgal.) with a granulate capacity of 1.85 liters (0.4 USgal.).

The Comline® Calcium Automat 3170 for aquariums from 150 (39 USgal.) to 500 liters (132 USgal.) was especially developed for the use within the aquarium (most devices are designed only for cabinet filters), but can also be placed into cabinet filters with low water levels.
The Calcium Automat 3171 is suitable for cabinet systems and aquariums up to 1,200 litres (317 USgal.) with a granulate capacity of 1.85 liters (0.4 USgal.).
The Calcium Automat 3172 for cabinet systems and aquariums with 2,000 liters (528 USgal.) and more (depending on the coral population) has a granulate capacity of 10 liters (2.6 USgal.) and an especially high degree of efficiency.
All models are self priming, which significantly facilitates their operational start. The water flow rate is adjusted prior to the granulate, and will thus remains very consistent over time. All devices are equipped with a reabsorption function for the undissolved gases, and therefore consume very little CO2 for this degree of efficiency. The models 3171 and 3172 use a cover with a wide opening, and contain a special connector for an internal pH probe (optional for 3170).
Marine aquariums with soft corals, stone corals, snails or calcareous algae need regular supplementation of calcium and bicarbonate ions. In 1989, TUNZE® Aquarientechnik was the first manufacturer to build a CO2 controlled calcium reactor. A pump is used to pass the water enriched with carbon dioxide through the Calcium Carbonate. The carbon dioxide reacts with water to produce carbonic acid and dissolves the calcium carbonate. The hardened water leaves the reactor through a control valve.
The automatic calcium reactor Calcium Automat 3170 combines high efficiency and a compact size, needs no additional supply pump, and is operational with a minimum water level of 60mm (2.3 in.). It is suitable for operation in the aquarium as well as in a cabinet filter.
The components:
Comline® housing for attachment and light protection for direct operation in the aquarium.
Dissolution of CO2 in the pump housing and recirculation of the undissolved gases provide
an especially economical CO2 consumption.
Transparent reactor housing with pump and water distribution in one unit.
Granulate content: 1,200 ml (42.2 fl. oz.).
Easy refill of the granulate by a screw cover.
Output adjustment by means of a precise control valve.
For complete operational safety, we recommend the use of the CO2 controller 7074/2 fitted
with a pH meter and CO2 valve. In this case the pH meter will control the infeed of CO2 in
accordance with the setpoint value entered. The danger of excessively low pH values
during the night is averted.
Delivery condition: Ready for mounting with hardness granulate, bubble counter, pump
and Comline® housing.

Great reactor
I ran this on my 120 and 80/30. I ran a Kamoer pump to deliver precise amounts of effluent to my systems. I have had it running for over 5 years with no issues.
Great carx.
Great small compact unit for my 120
Running for 14 months now.
I run Tunze manmade media and this reactor keeps my alk at 7-7.5. Very simple to use.
I have a 10lb co2 unit and it is still running at14 months and counting.

Great Calcium Reactor
Works good with no additional feed pump needed. It also very quiet.
