Phosphate Adsorption Media for Fresh and Marine Aquariums
Granular Ferric Oxide, often referred to as GFO, is perfectly suited for filtering out phosphate from the water column. This helps promote better coral growth and helps prevent algae outbreaks. This media has a porous high surface area, making it ideal for binding phosphate, silicate, arsenic, and other water-staining compounds.
How to Use
Use an up-flow media reactor with a flow rate capable of approximately 100gph (400 l/hr). GFO is also suitable for passive use in a fine filter bag or media basket. Rinse media before use until water runs clear.
Dosing Instructions
Initial Starting Dose: 1 tablespoon/10gallons
Maintenance Dose: 2 tablespoons/10gallons
Maintaining
It is recommended to change filter media when phosphate levels begin to rise, typically every 4-6 weeks.
