Thin Bio-Film Technology

Combination of vast surface area and open/interconnected pores allow a thin bio-film to develop.

This thin film allows bacteria to flourish because necessary nutrients are immediately available.

With the open pores, old dead bio-film is easily flushed from the media and will not plug the media.

Water flows through the media, not around as with other denser medias, thus utilizing the most surface area for beneficial bacterial growth.

    Cut to fit!

    Posted by RP709 on Dec 3rd 2018

This stuff is great, it has so much surface area and with all the little pores and holes there is just no way you won't be colonizing beneficial bacteria in no time! I like to rinse it in RO water first then cut it to fit whatever space I want to put it in. Cutting it dry tends to cause more small pieces to break off but if you let it absorb water and just use a simple butter knife you get nice straight pieces. Once cut give it real good RO rinse then put it in a container with RODI water (warm if possible) then add a bacterial source like Microbacter 7 or Dr.Tims One and only, soak for a bit and you will have a nice bacteria hotel.
