Water Blaster HY 5000 Circulating Water Pump.

The Reef Octopus Water Blaster pumps are based off the same design as the popular Bubble Blaster skimmer pumps but intended to thrust large amounts of water. These pumps feature a digital control circuit board inside that controls directional start up and RPM speeds.

The smart circuit board will shut the pump off if it detects a problem that could otherwise have shortened the life of the pump. The Silicone Nitride shafts and bearings deters calcium buildup on the rotor unlike ceramic. This means less maintenance and cleaning and more time for you to enjoy your aquarium instead of working on it!

With the performance of these pumps and backing a 2-year warranty how can you go wrong. We offer several different models for water flow and head pressures.

Note: THIS IS NOT A PRESSURE RATED PUMP.This pump is not ideal for second floor applications or to feed Beckett or downdraft skimmers where consistent pressure is necessary.

Replacement pump for:SRO-CR5000C,SRO-CR5000C

    Very durrable long lasting efficient pump

    Posted by Richard on Apr 4th 2018

    I've had mine since they came out (I think 2006 or 07, I bought it from aquacave and don't have the original receipt, so I'm not sure about the date). It's a waterblaster hy5000. I've had the volute snap off on me once (don't know why it did, but my plumbing was subpar at the time, so that was most definitely user error). I replaced the volute 3 years ago (wasn't too expensive in my opinion) and I can't remember if I replaced the impeller. I don't maintain it like I should, but it's been a work horse!!!
With my 4ft of head pressure it uses roughly 35watts, produces almost no heat, and is very quiet. I would definitely own another.
For this price point, I dont think you can get better efficiency, durrability, power, and quietness from anyone else. Dont get me wrong it does have a very very slight hum to it (no pump cheaper, with this flow, will be this quiet), but if you are running a pump that pushes this much water, I highly doubt you will ever hear it over your other equipment or water movement. I have an open stand, I bet if i had doors and sides on it, it would not be audiuble at all.
great pump - low wattage & very low heat transfer

    Posted by Rick on Sep 24th 2014

    Found out from other aquarists that my Mag 12 was transferring a fair amount of heat to the tank, they highly recommended this series of pump due to the low power consumption & they found it wouldn't add unnecessary heat to the water. Swapping this with the Mag 12, I'm using about 1/2 the electricity & the tank is generally running about 1 degree cooler! As a bonus, the pump comes with a coupler for easily connecting the output to flexible hose (1" inner diameter) or union for connection to hard plumbing.

    return pump

    Posted by charlie on Jun 11th 2011

    I have a 210 gal. reef tank and my return pump was making a lot of noise. Ordered this pump from Aqua Cave and couldn't believe how quiet it is. You can not hear this thing run. My previous pump was an Iwaki which ran 24/7 for 6 years, but was never as quiet as this one. The price was right and and it is supposed to use only 65 watts. I also own a Reef Outopus skimmer which has given me good service. That is one reason I decided on this pump. I mounted it external from the sump. It comes with unions on the intake(1 1/4") and outlet(1") for easy removal to clean. Im very happy with this purchase.
