Tunze Care Magnet Strong, up to 3/4" Glass
The Tunze Care Magnet Strong (220.020) consists of an ergonomic handle and special plastic blades made of wear-resistant high performance plastic. The patented slim Care Magnet is significantly more compact than conventional algae magnets with a large cleaning surface; it is unobtrusive and therefore able to remain within the aquarium without disrupting the overall scenery. With the Care Magnet there is a 3 mm gap between the magnet and the glass so it will not scratch the inside of the aquarium (as sand can not be trapped between the magnet and the glass).
The large blade should only be modified with the included stainless steel blade for aquarium glass panes with particularly tough algae, e.g. older deposits on the side walls or thick calcareous algae.

Not great on acrylic
I purchased this magnet cleaner upon release. That was a mistake. At the time Tunze promised a long acrylic safe blade, and an acrylic safe scraper, neither ever came to fruition. The reason I was so eager to purchase this item is my tank is bowfront and that makes square cleaners only touch on the ends, this is designed to work exactly that way. After using this for 4 years I've come to the conclusion it just doesn't cut it for acrylic. The small blades wear out fast on calcerous alga, the felt pads collect stuff that embeds and scratches the outside, it doesn't float and the magnets aren't really strong enough for 3/4" thick panes. It is well made like all Tunze stuff. If I had a glass tank with slightly thinner panels I'd likely be pretty happy. It does get points for not picking up substrate, for sure an important consideration. Still, 2 stars for acrylic users.

So much better than the mag float I've been using.<br>It does not float, but that is the only thing you could find wrong with it.

AMAZING!!!!!
this thing is great... not only is it the MOST scratch proof design but with the metal blade it's also great at scraping away hard algae... I don't believe I'll ever buy a traditional cleaner again.

Total amazement, I would recommend this magnet over all other magnets, and Ive tried them all. You can clean the glass near the sand bed and have zero worries about scratching your glass. You also can go around corners with it, just have to be quick. Easily the best magnet I have used.
