Salifert Freshwater Potassium Test Kit

A perfectly fine test kit which is easy enough to use with clear directions. A definite help to the serious planted tank owner and Salifert has always, in my experience, been reliable. However, since there are no other Potassium test kits I can't compare the results to anything else.

I have fought algae for several years and have run many test for nitrates, phosphates, gh, kh, etc, and have had no success. The water where I live happens to have a near zero ppm K level. After testing my water with the freshwater test kit and using it to adjust my potassium level to a reasonable level my plants are doing better and the algae has all but disappeared, Stands to reason since potassium is one of the three major nutrients that plants require.

I am now on my second test kit. Before using the Salifert freshwater potassium test kit I had no means of knowing my K level. As it turns out the public water supply where I live has no or nearly no K in the water. Since using the test kit I am able to adjust the K to an appropriate .level.

I was able to perform the test on all 3 of my aquariums and got results where now I can figure out how much potassium to add to help my plants grow.
