Loud Whistle
I'm very happy with this pump's big brother, the AL15-A. Unfortunately, the AL6-A has a loud whistle from the tiny air intake. It sounds like a plumbing or gas leak. This makes the AL6 unusable for me. It does generate a good volume of air, driving a pair of Alita 8" long airstones almost as well as the AL15.

Great pump, well built and delivers plenty of air
The Alita AL6A delivers plenty of air for the 5 outlets that I have in my 55 gallon setup. This pump is relatively quiet and made even more quiet with the anti-vibration pads that I purchased along with the unit. Built solid and so far has been delivering good quality air and at the volumes I need. Got tired of buying the inexpensive air pumps that couldn't deliver or keep up with the demands of my setup. If you want to only buy an air pump once, consider this one. Great quality, solidly built, relatively quiet and appears to be a real work-horse.
